What  random facts often comes in people’s mind when heard about Nepal? Most probably the inconsistent and unstable government, country suffering from poverty , lack of infrastructure and obviously the most common answer to every foreigners-the busy traffic.Yet people around the world prefer to visit this little South Asian country atleast once in a lifetime.They do because they want to and they want to because of the fact “Heaven is a myth , Nepal is real”.It is a country wealthy in natural resources where lies the enormous grace , beauty beyond measured and country rich in history-glorious and proud.So, lets explore the random facts that makes Nepal unique and more beautiful and different than other countries.

1. A COUNTRY OF HIMALAYAS

Nepal is a country blessed with long range of high and uncompared beauty of himalayas.The people around the world are lured by these himalayas and try to conquer it.These snow filled mountains are joy to watch and a paradise for visitors. The amazing fact that makes Nepal even popular as a country of himalayas are eight of the fourteen eight thousanders are located in the country, either in whole or shared across a border with China or India. Nepal has the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest.

2. NON-QUADRILATERAL FLAG 

The national flag of Nepal  is the world’s only non-quadrilateral national flag.The flag is a simplified combination of two single pennons.The crimson red is the colour of the rhododendron, the country’s national flower. The blue border is the colour of peaceThe two triangles stands for the two major religions of Nepal – Hinduism and Buddhism.THe flag’s emblems, the moon represents the serenity of the Nepalese people and the sun represents the fierce tenacity of the Nepalese people .

3. A HOME TO LIVING GODDESS – KUMARI

The Kumari or Kumari Devi comes from the Hindu faith however most of the “traditional” Kumari in Kathmandu are Newari (original settlers of the Kathmandu-Valley). In Nepal the Kumari is a prepubescent girl selected by a council from the Newari people that acts as a manifestation of divine female energy.A Nepali Kumari is believed to be the living incarnation of the goddess Taleju also known as Durga. This continues until after menstruation when the goddess Taleju vacates her body. Illness and loss of blood due to injury can also mean the goddess leaves the girls body.

4. THE BIRTHPLACE OF BUDDHA

Nepal is blessed with the birth of the Buddha,founder of buddhism. Siddhartha Gautam, known as Gautam Buddha was born in holy land Lumbini which is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in Rupandehi District.Lumbini is one of many magnets for pilgrimage that sprang up in places pivotal to the life of the Buddha. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Culture) and holds immense archaeological and religious importance.Every visitor can see the exact spot of the birth of Lord Buddha at the Maya Devi Temple. Excavations have revealed the “marker stone” showing the exact spot where Siddhartha Gautama Buddha was born which is kept under protection. It is also considered to be the best place in the world to meditate.

5. FESTIVAL OF DOGS

Nepalese Hinduism is unique in dedicating the second day of Tihar, Kukur Tihar, to the worship of dogs. People often see them as a pet and a family member or their beloved ones. But in country like Nepal they are worshipped for their loyalty and dedication towards human beings. During Tihar garland of flowers is draped around the neck of every dog; not only those with homes, but strays as well.

Isn’t is amazing to to have existed  such a precious god’s gift to be in such a small country?Well, there are more of them that fascinates people and makes people realize how have i not visited this country yet. The natural beauty , rich cultures , dense pilgrimage sites , varieties of weather in  such a small difference of locations and many more, they all make nepal unique and beautiful than the so called developed cities without the greenary and unpreserved culture and history. Nepal is truely a joy to visit and mesmerizingly beautiful.
